Summary |
This is a regular edition of "One Cent Life Portfolio" ("1 ¢ Life"), written by Walasse Ting, edited by Sam Francis, and published by E.W. Kornfeld. According to E. W. Kornfeld : "(Ting) wanted to publish the most international illustrated book, intended to illustrate his text, uniting tachisme, neo-dadaisme, pop art, and all other artistic movements. The idea was born from global experience, close contact with culture, pseudo-culture, primitive existential worries, urban erotic and eastern wisdom. It was a Herculean task, for which only a Chinese would have been able to muster the perseverance" - excerpt from Gemini Fine Books & Arts, Ltd. This ambitious project of limited edition color lithographs and Walasse Ting's poetry, incorporates 62 lithographs by the following American and European artists, mingling Pop, abstract, and Conceptualist sensibilities: Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Enrico Baj, Alan Davie, Reinhound, Jim Dine, Sam Francis, Robert Indiana, Asger Jorn, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Mitchell, Claes Oldenburg, Kimber Smith, K.
